Instructions Introduction Has to be a scholarly articles Students/candidates will conduct a review of the literature that relates to identified problems How can a school or district addresses the well-being of students, educators, families, and the community amid the coronavirus pandemic (substantiated through the lens of inquiry), includes recognized literature from the field, and highlights literature that might inform possible solutions which have been tested or measured in published, empirical studies. The ROL • defines and clarifies the stated problem (s); • summarizes previous investigations to inform readers of the state of the research; • identifies relationships and connections, contradictions, gaps, and inconsistencies in the literature; • is directly related to the Action Research question (s); and • suggests next steps and potential solutions. Simply stated, the ROL summarizes and explains what research has been done on the topic and includes in-text citations of the sources as you mention them. In your narrative, point out the different ways that researchers have treated the topic. Point out any connections between the sources especially where one source is built upon prior study. Helpful Hints • Primary source citations are always best! • With few exceptions, only include literature that has been written in the last 5-6 years • Use quotes (block quotes) judiciously • Use paraphrasing. Restate the main ideas of a paragraph or section to highlight, in your own words, the important points made by the author. • Use your ARC Guides from each class to help compile your information. Remember: A Literature Review is more than an Annotated Bibliography or a summary, because you are organizing and presenting your sources in terms of their overall relationship to your AR project. Instructions • Write a 1,000 to 1,500-word ROL narrative that summarizes, synthesizes, and supports your topic. The word count does not include the references. There are approximately 250 words on a typical page using 12 point Times New Roman font . • Present a minimum of 6 to 10 scholarly articles that supports your action research questions, theory of action, and an ROL that shows potential research-based solutions to the problem stated in the practitioner’s inquiry from preceding courses. (Have you selected articles that support your theory of action?) • Use headings to categorize “like” articles. • Include a Reference Section, a list of references to support your narrative in APA format. • Use the format from the job aid to submit your work. The word count applies to the ROL.
